Fire Sprinkler Repair

Choosing a Fire Sprinkler Repair Contractor

Picture the scene…

It’s the middle of the night…

You get a phone call from the police…

“Mr. Jenkins, This is Detective Williams. I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but your building is on fire. Can you come down right away, the fire department would like to ask you a few questions”…

I sincerely hope this never happens. But if it does then wouldn’t you like the next words out of Detective Williams mouth to be, “Thankfully your sprinkler system kicked in and contained the fire; so it’s only one room.”

The fact is that a properly functioning system is your best and first line of defense to make sure that your building is protected from fire. And yet, if you don’t spend any effort on ensuring that you get the right fire sprinkler repair contractor, then how can you be sure that your building is protected?

Here are three things that you should look for before choosing someone to carry out inspections on your system:

1/ Experience

The first and most important criteria are that they can actually do the job and that they are licensed and properly insured. It is important to realize that there are many different kinds of systems, and so knowing what type you have is very important.

2/ Prevention is better than a Cure

It is far more preferable to call in a repair contractor to check over your system before you run into problems. Even if you are not currently experiencing any issues, a sprinkler system that you know works well can set your mind at rest. In addition, it is relatively cheap to check over a system in comparison with installing a new one, and so there is no excuse for not getting it cared for.

Moreover, a once yearly fire sprinkler inspection is in any case a legal requirement in the state of Florida.

Choose someone that has experience in the details of your particular fire system, because not only will they more readily pick up on potential problems, but they will also have the spare parts available to do the job.

3/ Satisfied Customers

A company can have lots of experience but not have many satisfied customers! So in addition to experience, it is important to ask if there are any current customers that you can contact to discuss the type of job the company has done.
